Unpacking: 13 – 19 December 2015

It starts off as a great idea. “I’m going let my readers know what I have been up to in round up posts.” The same idea I recently decided to act upon.

I see so many bloggers attempt this and give up or forget about their weekly updates. I am going to try my best and life is incredibly busy.  I hope I can keep up.

Star-Wars-The-Force-Awakens

Unless you have been hiding under a rock,  you will notice Star Wars mania took over what are usually pretty average human beings. I tried not to get caught up in it, but I ended up binge watching the other films and then went to the first Thursday showing (that was not at midnight).

Nostalgia was high rewatching the old films; they were my favourite until the Lord of the Rings trilogy showed up (my Neopets usernames were all Star Wars related….).

The movie was everything a fan wanted. It had everything the ‘new’ movies lacked and everything fans adore from the older ones. Here’s hoping the next one only gets better.

The Force Awakens was not my only visit to the cinema this week; I went to see Black Mass, the movie Johnny Depp received a Screen Actors Guild award nomination for. His performance was superb with a great storyline, but I felt something was missing. When I figure out what that is, I’ll let you know.

My week began with the first Carol Service of the year. I got to see Jordan perform with the rest of  his Sunday School. He proudly got up and said his lines (his stage name is Barry) and enthusiastically sang the carols. It was wonderful.

Keeping with the Christmas Theme, Nails By Bex made my nails Christmas ready. She hadn’t experimented with my nails in over a year (I have not been in the country and my work as an extra demands natural nail beds). It feels amazing to have feminine nails again.

It wouldn’t be a week in the life of Sarah if I didn’t eat out multiple times. Last week, I feasted in newly opened Eddie Rockets (followed by a Christmas coffee in Clements).  As one of the new burger bars springing up in Belfast, I tucked into….. nachos. They get the thumbs up; I’m happy I can order nachos to collect two minutes from my house.

On Saturday, David and I popped into the Kings Head to see if we could grab a table on one of the biggest party nights of the year. The staff immediately accommodated us and in no time we were tucking into a turkey dinner. It is the best I have tried in Belfast; the brussels sprouts were tasty!

I am happy I spent a lot of time away from my laptop doing the things I love. There can only be more of that this week with Christmas!

Oh my. How could I forget?  This week was beautifully rounded off with the engagement of my best friend Nat to the wonderful Tom. Yes. I cried like a little girl when she rang to tell me!

Have a wonderful week and the most Merry of Christmases!

If you do decide to get onto the Star Wars madness, take no heed of the first three episodes!

Those nachos do look pretty good: I might have to make a tray of them tonight!

I personally think you should make some nachos for houseguests. Thinking out loud….
