When my friend Zoe suggested we do something together, I asked her what would interest her. Her response was, “something farm related”. This stumped me for all of around three seconds. After all, we were in Co. Fermanagh and agriculture is a major industry in the county. I suggested we visit the Tickety-Moo, a dairy farm based in Killadeas, near Enniskillen. It is a fifth generation farm, owned by the Grey family. The farm began in 1898 when four cows were milked by hand on a three legged stool. It has since advanced greatly and 210 cows are milked daily (by robots), producing around 25 litres each per day.
The “Coole”est 5k around
Parkrun has been a staple Saturday morning activity for me for a couple of years now. For non-runners, it is a timed 5k run that is held in parks around the UK, Ireland and across the world. It brings together top athletes who finish in 15-17 minutes with those who will walk the course in 50 minutes. Each parkrun is organised by a group of solid volunteers – without these people, there would be no parkrun.
That time I went to prison…but not for what you think!
The Crumlin Road Gaol Attraction and Conference Centre was opened on November 2012. Two and a half years on and I still hadn’t been on a tour (I did attend the Spooktacular in 2013). So, one sunny Tuesday morning, Mum arrived in Belfast and wanted to explore somewhere new. It wasn’t long before we decided to book a tour for ‘the Crum’.
Dining at Rocket and Relish
Rocket and Relish is one of the closest restaurants to my home in Belfast. When Mum came to visit and we wanted to go and eat somewhere close to home, Rocket and Relish is the obvious option.
Belfast Rose Week – July 2015
After the success of our family visit to the Tall Ships, we decided to have an outing to Rose Week at Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park. Mum has very green fingers and loves all things flower related and I love walking around these gardens, regardless of the time of year (as long as it isn’t too wet).
