Greetings from New York!
It feels fantastic to say that; it is wonderful to be back in my favourite city. <3
My week began in Belfast as it should – with a Sunday carvery. It was my second week in a row visiting Benedicts and I managed to stuff my face again. This time, I was joined by David and Jordan and Benedicts made sure Jordan’s diet was well catered for.
Thursday saw me jet across the pond. I was so excited that a three-hour delay could not dampen my mood. That evening was spent relaxing, eating home cooked food and falling asleep early.
Friday was spent visiting museums. I covered the Tenement Museum, 9/11 Memorial and the Museum of the American Indian. All three museums are in lower Manhattan, so I walked between them. By the evening, I was exhausted from the amount of ground I covered (and cake indulging I did).
Saturday was another day filled with walking and exploring. I definitely covered a lot of ground in the city. Kas and Joel shared their knowledge of the city, by showing me some sets from HBO’s The Knick and we made a slight detour to see the fire station from Ghostbusters.
That evening, I introduced myself to a new cuisine – Ethiopian! I hope to write about this in more detail but what I will say now is that is wasn’t like eating anything I’ve ever had before. It was a very communal meal.
On the way back home, we may have wandered into a bakery and bought multiple baked goods. This may have included a full cake (it was Joel’s birthday earlier in the week, so that is my excuse). I like cake…
As I have been in NY, I haven’t had the most exercise filled week (not officially but my calves and feet tell a different story). I went to the gym once and that was about as much as I did. This week, I plan on completing another 10k race, so I’ll see how that goes.

I didn’t go to the cinema at all this week (SHOCKING), but I did spend Sunday night watching and live tweeting the BAFTAs. I will be doing the same for the Oscars, so feel free to follow along.
On my flight, I caught two awards season movies: Trumbo and Max Fury. I can see why Max Fury won the awards it did at the BAFTAs, but aside from that, it didn’t leave much of an impression. Trumbo has a great story line and Bryan Cranston pulls of a top performance. I really enjoyed watching this one, especially as it gives an insight into the movie industry.
